Hello Halloween

I confess: I lost all my interest in celebrations in disguise since I turned 18. However….if you live in North America, Halloween doesn’t come unnoticed. Already in Mid-September, shops are full of orange cards and maxi packs of candies of whom it is better to make provision. Halloween is celebrated at school, at work, and the evening of October 31st a lot of kids go back and for, knocking at all neighbours’ doors at the no-stop rhythm of “trick or treat”?

No matter if you care or not, Halloween is all around you and involves you. And this year, it has involved me so much that I baked some Halloween treats :)

Little ghosts of Halloween

(Doses for 20-22 cookies)

For the cookies:

For the frosting:

  • 200 g of icing sugar

  • 60 mL of warm water

  • 50 g of dark chocolate

  • 25 mL of cream, 35 % in fat content

Prepare the shortcrust as explained here. Spread the pastry so that it will be about 0.5 cm in thickness. Cut cookies with the aid of a glass or of a round cookie cutter. Place the pastry disks on an oven pan covered with parchment paper. Bake the cookies for 25-30 min at 150 C. The cookies shouldn’t brown. Remove the cookies from the oven and let them cool down.

In the meanwhile, prepare the sugar frosting by mixing the icing sugar with warm water. Pour 1-2 tablespoons of frosting on each cookie and spread it with the aid of a kitchen brush. Let the frosting dry for 1-1.5 h.

In the meanwhile, bring the cream to boil and pour it on the chocolate. Stir vigorously in order to obtain a smooth cream. With the aid of a toothpick and of a teaspoon, use the chocolate cream to draw the ghosts’ mouth and eyes on the cookies’ surface.

Let the cookies dry for a couple of hours, before serving.
