SOS: griefs and frustration in the era of digital photography

I have been dwelling on this, but today is the day. I must switch topic and focus on a situation that has giving me some griefs.

Let’s talk about photography.

Although I am not a pro, I do love photography and everything I learnt, I learnt by myself (or thanks to some free tutorials, posted on youtube/websites/blogs by way more professional people than me :)).

As many individuals that, either for fun or for work, deal with digital photography, I edit my photos. While the pros tend to use Photoshop or Lightroom, I opted for the open source solution: GIMP.

Honestly, I have used GIMP for a few year without any problem. Actually, to be an open source software, I found GIMP very powerful.

But in the last few weeks, the software started acting weirdly…occasionally, it changes the temperature of the pics.

I usually shoot my photos in raw format and I set the white balance before shooting, depending on the day light. I then take my pictures and I import them in GIMP (first, they get opened by Darktable, GIMP’s plug-in). As I said, occasionally, GIMP (or maybe its plug in) changes the colour hue towards colder temperatures. You can see an example on the photo above.

I noticed that this happens only with yellow hues, while I have no problems with white, green, and red.

As I said, I have used GIMP for years without any former trouble.

How should I proceed? Should I re-install the software? Did something similar happen to you? If you have suggestions, leave them in the comments, please :)
